Lever/Lever

A lever is a solid bar that is pivotally positioned around a point (known as a Fulcrum). When you apply force to the end of the bar, the fulcrum will tend to move in the direction of the force is applied. This motion increases the force and allows you to lift or move objects that normally require more force to lift.

The distance between the fulcrum of the lever and the point at which you apply force determines the maximum amount of movement. This is referred to as the mechanical advantage. The mechanical advantage increases when the lever is extended. You can calculate the mechanical advantage by dividing the distance from the fulcrum to the point where you are applying the force by the distance between the fulcrum and the end of the lever.

Levers can also have a variety of effects depending on how the forces are applied. A class 2 lever for instance is prone to rotating in the opposite direction when the force of the effort is applied. If you push the door's handle the force will create similar rotational effects to this.

However, levers don't create energy. They simply multiply the force you apply by changing a small amount of effort across a large distance into a larger amount of force applied over a shorter distance. Levers are used to lift heavy objects and transport huge amounts of cargo. This is also the basis behind the levers you find in a variety of everyday tools like crowbars, fishing rods, claws for hammers and even your legs when you sit on the hand brake of your car.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad handles, also referred to as upvc door handles have levers on each side to operate the multipoint locks. They are available in various finishes and designs and can be used on a wide range of materials such as UPVC doors, Aluminium doors & Timber Doors. They are sold in pairs for the outside and the interior doors, with spindles and screws included. They are also available in hand tilt and turn window handles unhandled versions for different types of users.

They are typically used for new constructions and can be used to replace window handle the existing upvc doors. They are typically operated by lifting up the levers to throw all of the multipoint locks, and turning the key to close and unlock. They provide a bit more security than traditional lever door handles, as the locking is only done through the inside with keys.

They are not as safe as a cylinder lock, but they are an affordable way to add extra security to your home. The only disadvantage is that they don't offer the same level of protection as a cylinder bolt, and therefore don't stop external access in the event that the door has been left open.

In some instances, snib buttons can cause issues, especially when you have doors and locks that are warped. If the snib is applied in error, or by a person who isn't quite used to it, the door could close and shut you out. You can usually gain entry by knocking the door frame or the letterbox. But this isn't a good idea.

This is achieved with the 'pad-shaped' handle that locks into the gap between the handle and the lock case.

This type of handle is designed to fit uPVC doors that are fitted with multipoint locks which operate via split spindle operations. This kind of operation requires that the lever handle and the external pad handle both be fitted to the same lock case. It is a simple switch from the current uPVC handles but it may also require changing the lock case or a brand new set of handles to accommodate this added functionality.

These aluminum levers and movable pad door handles are ideal for uPVC doors and feature a slide bearing that is maintenance-free as well as fixing lugs and spring cassettes supplied. These handles have a cut-out for a euro door handles-profile, and can be fitted to a variety of uPVC or doors made of timber.
