Galactus like thistle and egg tart from Macau and St. Lorenz Church an…

It's the first Monday of a calm December.

I wanted to plant some deep purple pansies in a pot, so I chose alyssum and galactos.

The variegated, jagged leaves look pretty nice.

Looking at the name tag, I've never heard of galactos before, and it seems to produce thistle-like flowers.

I googled it, and sure enough, I got one hit: a cream-colored thistle called galactos.

I'm sure you've heard of galactos before.

What does galactose mean when it comes to nutrition?

It's a monosaccharide, like glucose and fructose.

@I wonder if the galactose in thistle is another name?

By the way, last time I discovered the name Henry Breakspeare of Macau, among the powerful and noble families of the Jesuits.

Speaking of Macau and the Jesuits, during the time of King Philip II of Spain and Portugal,

he traveled to Asia to spread Christianity,

passed through Goa in India,

reached Macau, and came to Japan from there.

Since Macau was the Jesuits' base for missionary work and trade,

it makes sense that I learned about the existence of Henry Breakspeare, who is still a powerful figure in the Jesuits.

One of Macau's specialties is the edd tart.

It is said to be an adaptation of a traditional Portuguese pastry.

I remember when I went to Madrid, Spain,

the bread, especially the cream bun, was incredibly delicious,

and I ate it with Calvados Sangria.

Egg tart from Lord Stow's Bakery.

I wonder if I could make it with puff pastry and custard cream?

Quoted from CREA

There is a Spanish Basque cheesecake,

and the Basque region is the birthplace of Ignatius de Loyola,

the founder of the Society of Jesus, and Francis Xavier.

JAL Basque cake I found on the internet.

It's only 5,400 yen! That's too much...

When I think of Macau, I think of casinos,

and I feel a little scared.

But it's close, so I'd like to go there casually.

I wrote about St. Lorenz Church before,

and I found out that there is a St. Lorenz Church in Macau too.

It's a bright cream-colored church.

It was built by the Jesuits between 1558 and 1600,

and is one of the oldest Catholic churches in Macau.

St. Lorenz Church is also called "Wind in Right Direction",

which comes from a Chinese story of "praying for good luck and smooth sailing",

meaning that things will go smoothly and with good fortune,

and it seems to have come from sailors praying for a safe voyage.

From 1582 to 1590, the Tensho Embassy to Europe visited Rome and the Vatican.

Ito Mancio met with Pope Gregory XIII.

The Gothic-style St. Lorenz Church in Nuremberg, Germany, built in the mid-13th century

I stopped by there when I went to Nuremberg.

Speaking of Nuremberg, I also visited Dürer's studio.

Nuremberg is the holy land of the swastika.

The relationship between St. Lorenz and the famous sausage

It reminded me of a lot of things. .
